... society is tirelessly evolving through groundbreaking innovations. One of these innovations is the creation of Folcutters. Originally created as cooks for grand restaurants, servants or guardians, they soon became a sort of expensive pets for rich families. But, after a grand revolution to gain their independence, these new creatures slowly became free, and finally obtained their place among society despite a lingering hostility from some humans.
Folcutters are created with magic through the combination of three elements. A cookie cutter (or bread stamp), its shape working as a modern rune to channel magic. The soul of a water-based creature, to work as a base for the Folcutter’s mind. And finally food, working as a base for the creature’s body.
Folcutters are mostly humanoid creatures with the tail of a water creature and fin-like ears (there are some rare exceptions of non-water related Folcutters, but they are not well documented). They are mostly made of food-based matter infused with magic. They have no blood, but a colorful goo and cake-innards instead. Their teeth are always poking out of their mouths and their pupils are always in the shape of their cookie cutter.
Folcutters have several abilities. Due to their natural bond with water creatures, most of them are able to breathe underwater. They are able to heal people by applying a therapeutic rune in the shape of their cookie cutter on the skin of a person. However, their bite is also affected by this same magic, meaning a Folcutter bite will shift to take the shape of their cookie cutter, resulting in devastating (and often lethal) wounds.
By focusing their magic on an external focal point, Folcutter are also able to summon a small familiar, which is a manifestation of their cutter: meaning that if a Folcutter has a star-shaped cookie cutter rune, their familiar will be a star.
Due to the infinite number of possible combinations as well as the endless financial resources used to create Folcutters, they have a wide variety of traits they can manifest upon conception.
